This variety concert is jam-packed with 2 sets of jazz and genre-spanning holiday music. The first set is a performance of the beloved Charlie Brown soundtrack. The second set sees the band take on holiday classics, often reinterpreting them for enjoyment by even the most reluctant holiday music listener. The band is fronted by Chris von Staats (Guitar/Vocals) and Jack Hanson (Keyboards) – two friends who met in the jazz program at The University of Vermont in 2013. They have performed together in various bands around New England during and since their time at UVM.
Notably, with Jack’s environmentally-conscious live hip-hop band, the two of them performed twice at the Vermont State House in Montpelier to rallies of thousands. Chris and Jack began the Charlie Brown Christmas concert in 2016 and immediately knew it would become a yearly tradition. The group has seen many iterations over the years, with Chris and Jack always the recurring members. It is predominantly a quartet with guitar/vocals, keyboards, bass, and drums, but with friends joining in occasionally on saxophone, vocals, and more. This year they will be joined by Bruno John on Bass and Zach Santos on drums.
