Connor Young is a Vermont-born trumpeter, composer, songwriter, and educator who studied Jazz Performance at McGill University and has been an active performer across genres since graduating in 2018. Young recently released a third album, From Me To You Volume 2, which he'll be performing at this show.
His previous albums are Flight of the Starlings, a contemporary jazz record praised for its thoughtful arrangements, and From Me to You, a self-recorded, folk-inspired album described by Seven Days as “a masterful mélange of late-night musings and early-morning affirmations.” A fixture in Burlington’s jazz scene, he plays weekly at The 126 and helps run its jam sessions, while also teaching and recently earning a Creation Grant from the Vermont Arts Council to record a new album with his octet.
Silver Bridget is an instrumental cover group comprised of a musical saw, an electric guitar, and an acoustic guitar/drum kit combo. This Vermont three piece interprets famous melodies from across the landscape of popular music in beautiful and eerie ways, creating an original take on beloved songs. The members are: Johnnie Day Durand on musical saw, Matthew Saraca on electric guitar, and John Townsend on acoustic guitar/drum kit. The group's catalogue draws heavily on the 1960s and 1970s but includes renditions of songs from 19th century composers all the way through the 1990s, with both deep cuts and number 1 hits in the rotation. Silver Bridget is known for their haunting renditions of songs we all know and love. They drench their versions in reverb, and the results are both familiar and ethereal.
