On her sophomore album We’ll Become the Flowers, Edens explores what happens after the end, whether the ache of a breakup or the slow unraveling of a loved one’s health. Her songs reimagine endings not as final moments, but as devotional passages that give way to new beginnings.
Drawing inspiration from folk luminaries like Nick Drake, Karen Dalton, and Elizabeth Cotten, Edens writes with a quiet intensity, tender yet unflinching, sorrowful yet luminous. The result is music that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Written in the wake of heartbreak and her mother’s neurodegenerative diagnosis, We’ll Become the Flowers was, in Edens’ words, “a rope I used to pull myself out of misery.” Recorded during a two-week session in a Minneapolis attic with longtime collaborators, the album balances experimentation with emotional clarity. Songs shift in tone and time signature, moving between grief and humor, nostalgia and resolve.
Her voice carries the full spectrum, playful, certain, grieving, hopeful. Whether reflecting on memory, forgiveness, rage, or renewal, Edens’ songwriting feels immediate and embodied. These are songs about planting something in the wreckage and choosing hope.

Joining the bill is Cricket Blue, the duo of Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith, whose music blends intricate vocal harmonies with sparse, atmospheric arrangements. Their songs drift between indie folk and chamber pop, creating a sound that feels both intimate and expansive, rooted in careful composition and emotional depth.

NPR Music calls Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith of Cricket Blue “master storytellers”, and the All Scene Eye says Cricket Blue “sets a new standard for fiction-folk.” In 2019, the duo released their first full-length album, Serotinalia, to widespread praise, and were voted “Best Folk Group” in Vermont’s Seven Daysie Awards. As a response to the interruption of live music in 2020, the duo spearheaded a series of elaborately-arranged covers of songs from the Over the Garden Wall soundtrack, which have since earned a small but enthusiastic international following. Heaberlin’s songwriting has been featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Cricket Blue has been featured as a formal showcase artist at NERFA multiple times. They have played stages and festivals around the United States and Canada and are working on their second full-length album.

Opening the night is Bo Malcolm, a songwriter from Burlington, VT aka N’Dakinna.

Bo writes to get in touch with a sense of wonder. His songs tell stories of trial and triumph, carefully crafted to draw attention to life in all its multitudes—beauty, brutality, and strangeness.

Join us for a beautiful night of music in the brewery.
