Join us Friday, May 16 from 5–8pm for the opening of The Urban Landscape, a solo exhibition by Burlington-based painter Ken Russack. A lifelong student of art, Ken returned to painting after retirement and has since studied with renowned artists while developing a style rooted in light, mood, and place. His work often centers on what he calls “house portraits,” exploring the quiet drama of everyday architecture and landscapes, especially in Vermont and along the Maine coast.
The Urban Landscape brings together a collection of paintings created throughout Burlington and Chittenden County—from the Old North End to the South End and beyond. Many of the smaller works were painted en plein air, capturing a specific moment of light or shadow on site, while others have been expanded into larger studio pieces. The show offers a glimpse into Ken’s process, and his ongoing effort to evoke the feeling of being in a place, at just the right time.
This is a free event. Foam will be pouring beer, and Deep City will be serving free hors d'oeuvres, and selling wine and drinks. The show will remain on view through June.
