The Nora Kelly Band is a Montreal-based alt-country unit, that delivers haunting melodies, cutting pedal steel and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. The perfect sonic backdrop for your next tussle in the hay.
Before the pandemic, Kelly led the post-punk band DISHPIT, recording with Steve Albini and making Exclaim’s Class of 2020 in both Montreal and Toronto. But when everything changed, so did Nora. She looked inward, asked some hard questions and turned to rocks roots. Out poured tunes about love, independence and what it means to be a 21st century cowgirl.
During the summer, she and friends played her songs by the railroad tracks, and people flocked to sing along until the cops chased them off. They released their debut LP, ‘Rodeo Clown,’ in summer 2023 on Mint Records and it was voted a must-listen by Indie88 and Exclaim! Most recently, Nora Kelly Band released ‘See You in Hell’ which was featured in the hit video game ‘Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.’
