Michael Wilbur is an internationally touring saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist from Brockton, Massachusetts. He has redefined dance music with raw brass energy and genre-defying innovation.
Mastering the saxophone for nearly three decades and performing professionally worldwide 16 years, Wilbur co-founded Moon Hooch, the pioneering two-saxophone-led dance band that ignited a brass/sax revolution. Rising from NYC subway busking to global stages, they've headlined festivals and played in over 20 countries, blending explosive EDM, jazz, hip-hop, soul, and house into unstoppable grooves.
Now steering his solo act under his own name, Wilbur channels that same visceral dance-floor fire through live looping on bass saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, and voice, crafting intricate layers with unconventional instrument pairings that pulse with healing intensity. His collaborations span powerhouse acts like Too Many Zooz, TAUK, The Motet, Honeycomb, Mike Doughty and his electrifying side project Thundersmack with sax legend Leo P.
Wilbur’s performances are ritualistic journeys, turning strangers into a sweating, swaying congregation united by rhythm and breath. His fearless fusion of live-looped horns, pumping electronic production, and soul-baring vocals creates a sound that’s equal parts futuristic and primal, proving that a single artist with a saxophone can still move the world.
A true force of musical alchemy, Wilbur declares: Music is the healing force of the universe!
