Foam Presents: Gzilith and Laces. April 19. 8pm.
[Gzilith]
Gzilith, previously the solo project of Jeremy Smith, has leveled-up into a full band: Carter Barrows on drums, Zoe Bean on synth, and brother Ezekiel Smith on bass. Smith's original songs explore the highs and lows of an artist's life in Burlington: the joy of queer community, the anxiety of staying housed, the haunting spiritual power of nature. Singer-songwriter sensibility and Smith's impactful voice are sure to connect on an emotional level, while languid delivery and band chaos borrowed from the cabaret express the down-and-out world Gzilith invites you to join for a night. If you can find the exit, leave a little something for the band on your way out.
Music Genre: singer-songwriter, sleaze, indie-cabaret-rock
[Laces]
From a basement-dwelling musical pod of 2020 came LACES, a 5-piece band of multi-instrumentalists and songwriters; Levi Keszey, Abagael Giles, Christopher McManus, Erik Seivert, and Seamus Hannan. They play a shifting genre focused around the foundations of rock, country, and folk music, and every member takes center stage throughout their varied performances as they highlight each player’s unique songwriting style. The band’s all-original arsenal of music takes inspiration from jazz and funk music, includes extended pieces reminiscent of the jam scene, settles in grungy, chunky grooves, and even takes a few irreverent turns. Their first upcoming release, the self-titled LACES EP, will include an original song from each member, and will be available later this spring!
Sat Apr 19. 8pm. Free.
